Now I Love Cooking! Or How My Dishes Almost Ruined My Figure and Saved My Marriage

Not so long ago, I only cooked because I love my family and absolutely love to eat.

The problem? My dishes were… well, average.

Restaurants? Expensive. And the food? Not always worth the price.

Sure, I cooked healthy and reasonably tasty meals – I’ve always had a decent sense of flavor and a genuine interest in nutrition (that stuff really excites me).

But nobody was wowed. No one asked for recipes. It was more like: “Yeah, it’s good… what’s for dessert?”

Long story short: my cooking situation was dramatic.

It needed immediate intervention!

I Didn’t Like Cooking Because of the Chaos

I couldn’t set priorities in the kitchen – mostly because I didn’t know enough.

Cooking felt chaotic, exhausting, and the results were just so-so.

But then I discovered something that changed everything:

You don’t need to know a lot to cook well. You just need to know the right things.

That realization changed everything – suddenly, cooking became a joy.

Cooking That Could Have Ended in Divorce

Luckily, I reached the point where I was ready to learn – otherwise… it might’ve been a divorce.

Let me explain.

Okay, I’m slightly exaggerating.

But when I started learning, my husband Ralph von Cuks gently hinted that it was about time.

He didn’t say the food was bad – no, no.

He simply filed a complaint that, after 20 years, it could’ve been a lot better.

And honestly? He had a point.

Once I Started Learning – I Fell in Love

I discovered that cooking wasn’t just a duty – it was actually fun.

And to top it off, my food became so delicious that… I had no choice but to look into dieting, just to keep fitting into my size S dresses.

That’s why this blog is all about the keto and low carb lifestyle – because I want to eat deliciously, guilt-free, and in a way that’s good for both my health and my waistline.

Smuggling Health into Family Meals – and It Works!

One of my little goals is to sneak healthy ingredients into everyday meals – but in a friendly, tasty way. Especially for picky eaters (I live with two of them).

I have two guys at home who’d happily eat the same five things forever.

But now? My husband eats zucchini and broad beans.

My son? He eats spinach, parsley, and celery – and he actually gets it!

They understand that vegetables aren’t just “there for health” – they belong in the dish.

They taste the difference. The texture is right. Each ingredient shines on its own.

That’s the magic.

Start This Journey With Me

On this blog, I’ll share all the little things that made cooking a joy – and something I’m proud of.

I won’t just tell you what to do, I’ll tell you why – so you can understand it, not just follow a recipe.

You’ll be looking forward to your next meal because the last one blew your tastebuds away!

I’m still learning, still experimenting, still playing in the kitchen – and I’d love some company along the way.

Stay with me – let’s enjoy this journey together!
